Welcome! I am Ana
I am the crafter and storyteller behind this artistic space.
While as I writer, I use words to build sentences, as a ceramist I build narratives by using clay. I start with a small lump and slowly, with patience and attention to details, I transform it into one of a kind pieces.
I was born in Bucharest and In 2017 I moved with my family to Zürich, where I discovered the beauty of making ceramics and started this journey that completes and enriches my artistic expression.
My path was far from a traditional one, as I have a background in Marketing and Advertising, but art has always been an important part of me. Even as a kid I saw it as my way of discovering and understanding the world around me, a way of building bridges between myself and other people.
As an emerging ceramist, I constantly learn, experiment and explore with forms, colours and textures. My art is mostly intuitive and organic, rooted in play and the pure joy of creating. It is both an invitation to reflection and a conversation starter.
The objects I create stand at the intersection of functional and aesthetic, influenced by the Japanese philosophy wabi-sabi which celebrates the raw beauty of nature, with its imperfections and asymmetric lines. With very few exceptions that were build on the pottery wheel, every object is entirely handbuilt. Without molds and using some of the oldest techniques in pottery such as coiling and pinching, I make unique and quirky objects that create a special visual and tactile experience.
If you watch it closely, you can even notice the marks of my fingers, left as imprinted recollections of the work flow.
My muse of inspiration comes from the smell of rain. From spending time with my loved ones. From a happy childhood memory, from every day life. Dance takes me to that place in my mind, where imagination flows uninterrupted and free.
I am thrilled to welcome you to my creative realm, where clay joins storytelling.
Please let me know if something catches your eye and looking forward to hearing from you!
